What to expect during couples therapy

Initially, Marésa will assess the couple- this will take up at least the first session. A comprehensive assessment of the good and the bad, the past, present and future will help her get a clearer picture of the relationship dynamics.

The therapy session itself will begin with identifying and understanding the barriers to a happy and healthy relationship. Shared treatment goals will be formulated and will help create a treatment plan.

Whatever concerns you may have as a couple, Marésa can assist you in improving your process of communication. She encourages couples to share their thoughts, feelings, and desires clearly and compassionately. Couples learn how to demonstrate to their partners that they understand and empathise with each other's points of view.
